When should I get a massage?

Massage is an ideal preventive care health option for everyone. Massages are perfect at any time. Too many people live with unnecessary pain, letting the problem go and taking longer to heal. Massage can help relieve that pain and is an ideal preventative health care option for everyone.

When should I wait to get a massage?

If you have any health considerations, you may want to consult your doctor and/or the massage therapist. Here are some examples of conditions where you should NOT receive a massage:

  • Fever
  • Any type of infectious disease
  • Severe cold
  • Any acute injury (within 24-48 hours)
  • Recent surgery (before 6-8 weeks)
  • High risk pregnancy (consent from doctor for approval)

These are only some of the conditions under which massage is not recommended, but if you are not sure, please contact us.

How do I book a session?

If you are reading this, you are almost there. Click here to look, book and pay for a session online. The website will direct you through the process. It will ask you to create a log on name and password. This will allow you to access and/or change your appointment at any time. Once you find a date, time and the therapist at the office location you desire, your request will be submitted to us. As soon as we accept it, you will receive another confirmation email. You may also email (info@tmandb.com), call or text (843/413-5172) for a session.

I just booked my first session online. Now, what?

After booking online, you will receive email confirmation as soon as we accept the appointment. Once accepted, you will receive a confirmation request email and/or text messages 4 days before your appointment.  Another email and/or  text message is sent out confirming your appointment 24 hours before your massage therapy session time. In this information, you will find links to our website for more information. You may print out the Intake form and bring it filled out to your appointment.

I have never been to a therapeutic massage session before. What can I expect ?

First of all, you will thoroughly enjoy your experience. If you set up your session online, you should receive an email confirmation with directions. Please click on the intake form to the right. You should print and complete the form to submit at the first session.

You do not need anything special unless you have been asked to bring additional paperwork or medical records. Please arrive to the office 5-10 minutes before your scheduled session and have a seat in the waiting room. Your therapist will be right with you.

The therapist will greet you and bring you to the massage room. You will need to complete our intake form that includes a health history, informed consent, assumption of risk and waiver. There will be some time to meet your therapist and discuss any questions or concerns. For some sessions, it may be important for the therapist to conduct a brief posture, physical and/or movement assessment as part of your session. He/she will give you a brief summary of your session and instructions before she leaves the room.

What happens during a therapeutic massage session?

This really depends on the type of session that you have purchased. However, for most sessions, you will rest on a professional therapy table in the face up or face down position with the sheets and blankets over you. You remain covered at all times; the therapist will uncover one area at a time as he/she works to ensure your comfort.

When you are face down, you will place you head into a cradle that supports your cervical spine and head. There is a bolster for your feet, too. At all times, the therapist will ensure your comfort with the table and/or temperature of the room.

The therapist will use a variety of therapeutic techniques to manipulate your skin, fascia and muscles. This may include gentle gliding, rocking, pressure point, stretching and more. He/She is highly trained to provide you with the highest quality and customized care.

Where do I park or enter the office?

For the Florence office: You should park behind the office and enter from the back. You may park behind your therapist’s car, if needed.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes! All prices are quoted at the cash or check price. Credit cards are accepted with additional fees.

What if I need to cancel my session?

Since everyone’s time is important, we ask that you cancel 24 hours before your scheduled session. Otherwise, you will be charged 50% of your scheduled session’s fee.

My doctor says that I could really use a therapeutic massage session. What should I do?

That is great! You may want to ask for a prescription from them, depending on your condition. Then, give us a call. We have accepted health insurance payments in the past but are not billing insurance at this time. Given the recent changes in our U.S. healthcare structure, we have decided to put this on hold for now. Massage therapy is a covered benefit on most health savings plans or flexible spending accounts. So, if you have a card for one of those accounts, bring it in and we can charge from it.
